My closet is full of empty hangers

It's kind of depressing when you realize you can fit your entire life into one large suitcase and 6 large plastic storage bins. However, it has been done, by me, and tomorrow morning, I clean. I'm checking out of my dorm room at 11:30... ish. Then I will take my jogging final, that, it turns out, I'm not going to fail. That'll be exciting. After that, the plan is to empty my card of all Dining Plus $$. Any ideas on what I should buy? Then it's off to the airport for me. I'll be home around 8:15 pm. Hopefully I'll remember to pack my chapstick in my big bag so as to not get it confiscated. Honestly, do I look like the type of a girl who would pack a bomb into a chapstick tube?! Goodnight!

Also, tonight was my last MaryKay training in Utah until August. It was kind of sad. I've really learned to love the women in my unit- they are hysterical! Apparently, our unit is known as the ones who sit in the back whispering and laughing all during training. We can't help it... Also, because I finished my PowerStart (30 facials in my first month), I got this really sassy gray pearl bracelet. Aaaand I love it! Also, because I was the only one in my unit to complete the March challenge (10 appointments with 4 people at each, and a $600 order), I'll be getting this really sassy silver ring with a huge pink rock... in the mail... as soon as my director gets it. Really excited about that one. So watch out women of Las Vegas, I'm coming home and I'll be setting up appointments for FREE FACIALS as soon as I get there. So be ready.

Also, I start my new job approximately 12 hours after I get home. How awful is that?! You'd think I would get a break or something, but NO! they've been holding the job for me so they're really backed up. (SIGH) I really appreciate the job, I really do. I just wish I could start Monday instead. At least I could get a little unpacked. The office manager says that all the work they have waiting for be could be overwhelming, but it's kind of like job security. They're not going to fire me when there's so much to be done. Not like they would fire me anyways, because I'm amazing. right?

So while this was a lovely break, I have to take down my desk now... I'll give you before and afters later... just because I am a sentimental sap!

registering for classes...

so, my registration date was at Midnight of the 18th. At 11:55 on the 17th, I started freaking out because I was in Casey's room and she got on her computer to start signing up... and I had totally forgotten to even look into what classes I wanted to take. I mean, next fall semester seems so far away. It is! it's 4 months away. So anyways, I got on Sarah's computer and start frantically looking for classes that work for my GE's and major, while not over-killing myself, and Casey and Sarah are sitting there telling me what they've taken, who not to take classes from, etc. I only ended up signing up for two classes that night, but then I got up the next morning, I finished and felt really good about it. I ended up talking to Loralee, and looking back to a paper of names of good religion professors I had got from my brother Nate and cousin Matt, who were both at BYU for like 7 years. After signing up, I sent it to every older BYU student I have email addresses for, to see if I got warnings or positive responses or whatever... anyways, here it is.

Your schedule for Fall 2007 is:
EXSC 187-007 (Volleyball) .3:00p - 3:50p TTh 144 RB.
GEOG 120-002 (Geography & World Affairs) Knapp, Jill W.10:00a - 10:50a MWF B002
JFSB.HFL 223-001 (Preparation for Marriage) Barlow, Brent Alvin.12:00p - 12:50p MWF B190 JFSB.
REL A 211-024 (The New Testament) Millet, Robert.11:00a - 11:50a MW C295 ESC.
REL C 130-017 (Missionary Preparation) Bott, Randy LaMar.5:00p - 6:40p M W112
BNSN.STAT 221-054 (Principles of Statistics) Bassist, Lawrence Wm.1:00p - 1:50p MWF 1102 JKB. (class) 2:00p - 2:50p W 203 TMCB (lab)

SO I think that will all work out nicely. I mean, I know I'll hate stats, but it has to be taken. Well, either that or like 4 semesters of a foreign language or something. I'm not such a foreign language person either, my brain doesn't work that way. I got an A in Spanish II by SUCKING UP! ask anyone. I was good at it.

So you may be asking, Preparation for Marriage?! Julina, is there something you haven't told any of us?! And my answer is no... Loralee (and everyone else I've talked to) said everyone should take that class from that professor at some point, and I needed a couple more credits. There was a slot open, so i took it.

Or what about Mission Preparation?! Well, I have been thinking about going on a mission since I was a junior in high school. My dad's always said that if any of his daughters were to serve a mission, it would be me. But besides that, it's an excellent class, you learn a ton, leave on a spiritual high every class, and Randy Bott will be retiring in a couple years. So WHY NOT!

So there it is, a little update on my life...

My goal is to be done with finals on saturday, but monday at the latest... I'll use Tuesday to hang out with Andrea for the last time, and start cleaning and packing, then Wednesday, I'll get everything together, officially check out of my dorm, and fly home. yay.

You know you've had a slow day when...

I'm having a difficult time thinking of anything to blog about.

Don't you love those finals when your professor hands you a piece of paper saying, "choose one of the following options, giving real thought and prayer into choosing a 'final exam' that is really appropriate for you. Upon completion, write a 1-2 page description... it's due on the last day of finals... blah blah blah..." it's for that Family Life class so the options are all relationship based; whether it be between you and a family member, a roommate, yourself (like depression or an eating disorder), or the Lord. I don't know whether I should hate it or love it. Part of me is sitting here thinking, "professor, just give me a multiple choice exam!" But the other half is sitting here saying, "hey, you can call up that girl who made high school suck for you, tell her you forgive her, and call it good." It says to use the time you would've used for studying and taking this exam to complete it. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do, but it's something I don't want to do... hence why its a good option. I just don't know how to go about doing it.

Other than that, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get back down to Vegas next Wednesday. My mom is driving up here next Tuesday, the 24th, (the day of my last final) to help me get all packed up and whatnot, and Loralee and Taylor's graduation is that Thursday, but my Dad also has a public defender training in Laughlin Wed.-Fri. so that means no one will be home to take care of Kare... She's 17, I think she can take care of herself, but no... So the original plan was for my mom to drive up Tuesday night, drive me back Wednesday morning so I could be there with Karalyn, then she was going to drive back up wed night, be there for graduation on Thursday, and drive home Friday morning. I told her it was going to be kind of hectic pulling the whole "up-and-back" twice in 4 days, but I'd do whatever was most convenient for everyone else. Now they're considering driving up Tuesday, helping me pack, flying me home wednesday with just enough of my belongings to last me a few days so I can be with Karalyn, then driving back with the rest of my stuff friday or so. We'll see how it all pans out.

Also, Nate and Liz are coming back to Vegas for the Summer, which is SO FREAKING AWESOME! I get to see my brand new niece after all. They're going to be staying with us, which means I don't get my room, but it is SO worth it. It also means I have to share a room with Karalyn... I'm really clean. Karalyn is... not so much.

Also, I spent half the day with Andrea today. I drove out to her house in Cecily's car so we could pick up her car at Midas which was having brake issues, then I helped her make dinner and watched Brooklyn and whatnot. It makes me sad that I won't be able to do that hardly at all anymore. I used to spend a few days a week with Andrea, because she lived across the street, south of campus. I just walked there and it took something like 7 minutes. It's a 20 minute drive to their house in Springville, so I won't be walking there much, (ok, ever). And as of now, none of my roommates will have cars... more motivation for me to get my MaryKay car, right?. I'm happy for them though. They have wanted to get out of the student life for a while, seeing as they both graduated something like 5 or 6 years ago. So it's good for them, but crappy for me. I consolidate myself thinking she'll miss my visits and chats as much, if not more than I will.

SO those are my thoughts for the day. Thanks for reading. Now I'm off to the shower and my ever-awaiting bed.

the countdown

k, I added the countdown to the bottom of my page... check it out!

so the end is near...

I just realized I haven't posted anything all week. Sad. Well, here are the updates.

My back has been feeling much better this week (knock on wood, or rather, the fake stuff my desk is made of). I do, however, have a cold. again. I seriously think I've been sick 75% of this semester. I'm not even kidding. I got it from my mom, who came up here last weekend to help Andrea and Kyle move into their new house in Springville. She was sick, so I tried to "avoid her" because I know I get sick whenever I'm within an mile radius of another sick person, but how do you avoid your loving mother, whom you never see, when she comes to visit?! Not a very realistic idea. So I've been keeping myself up coughing at night all week, thus justifying my sleeping in as well. I mean, sick people need their rest, right? I was in denial about the whole situation until Wednesday evening when I turned in my LAST PAPER OF THE SEMESTER! I thought I was going to die when it was all over, I came home and crashed. Perfect timing for finals! yay.

Also, I was talking to Casey today, and she said that I might have to get my tonsils out because I've been sick so much. I don't know what my tonsils have to do with it, but she said her aunt was really sick for a long time and had to get hers out. Does anyone really know what the deal is regarding that?

Also, I did laundry yesterday, and with my calculations, I might just make it to the end of the semester without doing anymore. How great is that?! I never have to haul my overflowing laundry basket and bottle of Tide down the stairs to the freakishly scary laundry room. ok, it's only really scary when it's like 1 in the morning, and you think you're the only one down there, but constantly hear weird noises that you should not be hearing.

Also! I've been considering getting an ipod, but I know I wouldn't need all the space, so I'm thinking about a nano. I've heard they can hold up to 2,000 songs if you get the most memory it can hold, but I don't know the cost comparison of that to the full sized ipod. Also, I don't know weather I would get green or pink. Big toss up there. So if anyone has any advise, I'm all up for hearing it.

So, are all pre-mission boys retarded, or is it just the ones that haven't been 'trained' yet? Nope, even they're pretty retarded sometimes. But I went on my 3rd ever BYU date (none of which have asked me btw, I've asked two, to help out friends, and the 3rd was a blind date) tonight. Let me say, the kid was totally "date etiquette" retarded. He called me when he got to the dorms, and when I walked out, he was just sitting in the back seat, waiting. (the driver and his date were in the front) So how was I to even know that was the right car? There were two out there and I could've gotten into the wrong one. Luckily, I chose right. I had to hold a lot of the conversation on my own. Most of the night, he talked to his cousin and brother, the other two guys, so I was left to talk to the cousin's date, who I had never met before, and the brother's wife, who I barely know, who set up the whole thing. After dinner and games, they took us home and he didn't really say anything. I said it was nice meeting him and thanks or whatever and just got out... MY HEAVENS! Is it that hard to be a gentleman, or even act the least bit interested? I compliment myself enough to say that I'm not a complete freak. NOTE to any single guys out there; when dropping a girl off, get out of the car at the very least! Tell her it was nice getting to know her, even if it is a lie, and if you have issues bringing yourself to do at least that, you have no business going on dates to begin with. It's not like you ever have to see her again if you don't want to. Well, at least I can say I had a good dinner out of the deal and I learned how to not suck 100% at darts.

Lastly, I've been looking at prom hair do's for long hair. For Karalyn, my sister, not me. I'll be home to help her get ready and I'm so excited! She got two dresses while she was here last weekend and they both look really good on her. She just needs to get herself asked now. But it sounds like there's two likely candidates, so I think we're ok.

So I've had a countdown for Harry Potter for like... a really long time on my desktop, and the other day, it finally switched so both movie and book are below 100. I took a picture today so you can see. If you're a fan, and would like to add the countdown to your desktop, go to www.mugglenet.com. It should be on the first page and under it, it says "add to your desktop" or, I've just noticed you can add it to your myspace or blog... well I think I might have to do that too. I didn't know I could before. Anyways, there you have it. I enjoy it. You might too.

forgot the pictures

k, so the first one... that's what I call, "what I do when I'm supposed to be writing a paper at 4 in the morning."
The second one is Easter morning, right before church. It's Kare, me, and Cecily. That's pretty much so you don't think I look like crap ALL the time while I'm in Provo. k. peace out!

a real blog for a change

So, I spent the ENTIRE week (well, Mon.-Thurs.) writing papers into the wee hours of the morning... so if you were missing the point of my last few posts... that was it. I really think I should work on my procrastination problem... but then I tell myself, what would happen to all the adventure in my life? Sad that my life's adventures comes from racing to finish papers... But I must say, I'm not such a bad writer. They're all about successful families and marriages, because I know all about being a successful wife and mother... right? They're for my Child Development and Strengthening Marriage and Family classes. I wish I could post them for you all to read, or have a link that you could go to read them, but I don't know how to do that, so... sorry.

What has even happened in the past week? Besides the papers, my sister Andrea and her husband moved into their first real house in Springville this weekend. That was exciting, but you can probably guess what I did. In my attempts to be as helpful as I could, I threw out my back again... YAY! Friday night, when it started to ache, I laid on the floor to rest for a bit, and 10 minutes later, I couldn't move. At all. My brother in-law had to pick me up, and it was the worst pain I've experienced in a long time. Of course I started crying, and poor Andrea felt like it was all her fault. I assured her it wasn't, and that I just hadn't been thinking about it at all. I downed 4 Advil and was still feeling a little pain, but alive within an hour. Karalyn spent the night in the dorms that night. That was fun. We did a little microderm abrasion, which was very nice after a hard day's work. We watched Benchwarmers on my laptop on my bed and laughed hysterically while trying to avoid waking up Cecily at 3 in the morning. Difficult task, but since we're amazing, we pulled it off.

Saturday we picked up the work again at Andrea's but I felt completely useless... I did petty jobs like putting Brooklyn's stuffed animals on her shelf, transferring Brooklyn's clothes into her drawer... lots of sitting around waiting for jobs that "wouldn't hurt me." Then again, I was really good at keeping Brooklyn out of everyone's way. We watched A LOT of Jungle Book, her new favorite movie. We played dress up, and did Brookie's hair... definitely a day FULL of fun.

Sunday, we did the normal stuff, only my Mom and Dad and Karalyn came to my ward which was cool. They even stayed to listen to my lesson in Relief Society. I'm really loving that calling now. It's such a great experience. After church, we went to Loralee's house for dinner. When we were done eating, I noticed a missed call from Mike who was at Sarah's house for Easter lunch. I ended up talking to a couple of his nieces, which was delightful, but didn't get much out of him. After that we went back to Andrea and Kyle's house to open a couple bottles of sparkling cider and "celebrate the move" before Mom and Dad and Kare had to drive back to Vegas. Somehow, Cecily and I fell asleep on one of the couches and when we woke up, were suddenly helping Kyle hang pictures on the walls. And now we're home. And I'm updating the blog. And I'm eating way more candy than is good for me. Aren't the holiday's great?

And now it's back to the grindstone. I'm going to try to go to bed at a decent hour tonight, and tomorrow it all starts again. But I'm down to 7 days of classes left. HOW GREAT IS THAT?! Then it's just finals and I'm home... that will be nice. So until later, there you have it!

a test for the pictures

So, I'm trying to add a picture to my profile... Perhaps I should tell the story of when Michael and Clayton Jay came to visit me in Provo town. because I have pictures for that. but not all of the pictures... (mike, if I need to yell at Dave to find the cord, just let me know)

So, it all started Thursday, march 22nd when I texted Chris Candito, as I often do when I need a laugh... somehow, Mike came up, (which is weird cuz that never happens) and Chris "accidentally let it slip" that Mike was coming up to surprise me. So, in turn, I go to Sarah and Casey's room to let them know/see what they think/ask for advise, etc...

*Casey Jo Cooley and Sarah Benton are two wonderful girls in my hall. I'm going to be living with them next fall. I'll occasionally refer to them in my blogs... I love them. *

Mike told me he was traveling with Silverado's volleyball team to California, which I thought was weird since he's not on it anymore... But once I heard he was really coming here, I decided to just play along instead of ruining his attempts to surprise me. Again. Friday March 23 was a beautiful day and I decided to work on my Relief Society lesson on a blanket outside...

*I'm a Relief Society teacher, which is actually a funny story. When we were doing opening interviews with the bishopric and the Relief Society Specialist lady, and they asked me what calling I would/would not like. I said, I'd be happy to be something like the "relief society greeter," if they had one, but I did NOT want to be a teacher of any kind. I think they just blended the two and dropped the "did not want" part, I dunno. It's actually turned out to be really good. I'm not half bad, (not that it's me, it's all the Spirit, right?) and I've learned so much. It's really been a blessing of a calling.*

After reading the same two paragraphs six times (in my lesson), and realizing that my mind was elsewhere, I kind of gave up. By then, three other girls in my hall had joined me on the blanket and we decided that listening to Jack Johnson and soaking up a little sun sounded more appealing than homework and church lessons. So that's what we did. Mike sent me a text around 2:30 saying he was at the hotel (in Cali with the v-ball team), and to me, that translated to "in Provo, putting our stuff down, coming to see you." When it hit 5 o'clock, and I hadn't heard from him again, I started to think that maybe Chris was kidding and Mike really was in California, plus he called me around then, updating me on the boy's games, so I started to believe that's where he really was. Depressing thought after thinking two of your best friends were coming to visit. So it was back to my dorm room to read some Harry Potter 6, and again, I fell asleep. Around 8:30, I heard a knock on my door. It was Sami (another girl in my hall) telling me someone was waiting for me in the lobby. Of course, she had a huge smile on her face, so that meant someone more than just my home teachers or something. I went running out there, and I saw mike and cj on the couch and I started laughing. It was pretty great, but they could tell I wasn't as surprised as I should've been... it was then that I told them I knew all along, and that Chris had told me... they would've guessed anyways.

We (Mike, Cj, and I, and then Jen, a lovely girl from my hall) went bowling for two hours that night, spent a lot of the boy's $$, which was delightful (haha) and bowled some amazing games. That all ended kind of late, so we took Jen home, then went to Wal Mart to allow Cj to obsessively look for some crazy cd that didn't even end up being that good... but it was still fun! Then, since the boys had never seen A Walk to Remember, I bought it, we watched it, and it ended up NOT being as cool as I remembered it. oh well. It was still a really fun night.

Saturday, I had a baby shower at 11, and I got home at 1. The boys had just woken up and showered, so they picked me up around 2. We walked to the Cougar Eat in the Wilk and had some lunch (on me! Dining Plus is a great thing). After that, we chilled in my lobby, waiting for my sister to call to let us know how to get to the park they were playing soccer at... that was fun. Then we went to the park, I don't really know what they boys did the whole time, it looked like paper airplanes and climbing trees... I played with my niece. When that was all said and done, we went and checked out the houses by the temple, because they are awesome. Then we went to the Mens Warehouse and mike and cj tried on some suits. Cj and I hid mike's camera for a while, and that was good fun. After that, we went to Nordstrom and I checked out some freaking hot shoes, of which mike has pictures, and I do not. Then we walked around for a bit deciding on what we want to do, and we decided on dinner, at the pizza factory. That was really good, but I couldn't put down much food, which was disappointing. Then we went to Carrabas for Italian sodas. We each got a free refill of a different flavor. And that's where the pictures come from! Then... oh yes, we bought phase 10, and played it for a while in Kayla's lobby. When they kicked us out, we went to Kayla's friend's house and watched a little Lakehouse and then then watched the boys play ping-pong. Like they've never done that before. Ever.

SUNDAY morning, the boys went to Cj's family's ward for a baby blessing whilst I had morning meetings and whatnot. Then we went to my ward at 1:30 and it was fast Sunday (the last fast Sunday of the semester) since last weekend was conference. Sacrament went about 20 minutes over because EVERYONE wanted to bear their testimonies. That was great fun. Sunday school was great except for that my stomach growled really loud during the closing prayer, and I heard a kid on the other side of the room commenting on it. Like that's not awkward. Then I had my lesson... and it was great. And then girls bore their testimonies, and half of us left the room crying. Weird how that happens. THEN we went to Cj's family's house in Springville for dinner, which was wonderful. I put a LOT of food away. Even Mike and Cj were impressed. When we got back to the dorms, it was visiting hours, so the boys got to see my room for once. And then they left. It was a GREAT weekend. aaand now you can see the pictures from carrabas.
