So I got bored today (which I shouldn't have because I have a to-do list about a mile long...) and I got on JC Penny's online site. I started looking at the shoes because that's basically my favorite accessory...
Karalyn and I want to get some dress boots for walking to church in the snow. It's not so fun in open toed shoes. Trust me on that one. These are the two I liked best. (click on the titles)
1)St. John's Bay® 'Decade' Stretch Boot
2)Worthington ® 'Kali' Mid-Shaft Boot
And then, because you can't stop at just boots, even though that's all we need for practical purposes, and that's all we can afford on a student's budget, I went looking through some more. Just for fun though... seriously.
Casual (a lot of them look really similar, but I like them...)
LA Gear Honey Low Profile Shoe
Mudd® 'Aggie' T-strap Skimmer
Mudd® 'Chilly' Buckle Mary-Jane
Mudd® 'Davis' Multi Pattern Skimmer
Mudd® 'Felta' Mary-jane Wedge
Decree® 'Barnett' Solid Buckle Flat
Dress Shoes (sooo sassy!!)
Worthington® Reagan' Peeptoe X-band Pump
east5th® 'Victoria' Peep-Toe Pump
maybe these...Softspots® 'Aster' Mary-Jane Pump
Liz & Co® 'Lorna'
Worthington® 'Natalie' Wool Peep-Toe Pump
athletic (because they're always good to have.)
Nike® Reax Run III Running Shoe
ASICS® GEL Frantic 3 Running Shoe
Fashion Athletic (whatever that means)
La Gear Campus Low Profile Shoe
Skechers® 'Spell' Embroidered Mary Jane
Anywho. It's sometimes depressing because I know I'll never have them. But still. They are nice to look at.
Kbye!

Welcome to the longest day of my whole life.
I'm keeping this short, because I'm so tired, far too tired to do anything productive, but not so tired that I can't spend a few minutes here.
I woke up at 7:10 and was out the door by 7:32. Believe it. It's amazing, I know. I drank a slim-fast on the way to school, which, if anyone is wondering, yes, they are fairly nasty, but quick, easy, and jam-packed with your daily vitamins and minerals. The walk was long and tiring, but I made it to my cooking lab by 8:03. Luckily, because it was the first lab of the year, they hadn't started cooking yet. Let me say, 8 a.m. or not, that is gonna be my favorite class by far! The two other girls in my group are not so cooking savvy, so they made me the "kitchen manager," but they are really sweet and totally willing to do whatever they can to make the process go faster. It was so much fun, I don't know why, but I really enjoy cooking. Then, during the last hour of lab, we get to sit down and eat what we've made. I just sat and talked with my lab partners while eating some of the best stuff I've ever eaten. Here's what we made:
Student Recipes – MEAL PLANNING LAB
The purpose of this lab is for students to make a complete, balanced meal.
All labs will make the same recipes: Soup, Salad, and Muffins

2 Tbsp. dried parsley
1/4 cup chopped frozen spinach
1/4 cup cubed zucchini
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
2. Add chicken broth, tomatoes, parsley, basil and oregano to saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat , and simmer covered for 10 minutes.
3. Add spinach, carrots, celery and pasta. Cook 10 minutes covered at a low boil. Add zucchini and cook 7 more minutes.
4. Test for doneness by forking vegetables and pasta to see if tender.
5. Spoon into bowl; add salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese to taste. ENJOY!

1. Cut broccoli into small florets, peel the stem and cut into 1/2" pieces.
2. Combine broccoli, onions, raisins, nuts (optional), and bacon (optional).
3. In a small separate bowl, make dressing of mayonnaise, vinegar, and sugar.
4. Pour dressing over salad.
5. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
6. Toss before serving.
7. This can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for hours, even overnight.

Just to help a friend
This is a friend of mine, Sara, who I went on a Church History Tour with. She's the sweetest girl in the world and is trying to get her photography business up and off the ground. Check out her website!
"I started my own photography business and am in the beginning stages and could use your assistance. You might be asking yourself, "Well, how can I help Sara?" Well, I need to create a magnificent portfolio and I need you, your family, your children, or even your friendly neighbor to be my model(s). I do portrait photography and I eventually want to specialize in just children. Spread the word, Sara is open for business! Be sure to check out my website: http://neverforgottenphotos.blogspot.com for further information.
Note: Since I work full time at Orthopaedic Institute of Henderson I will be doing these photo sessions Saturday mornings/afternoons and possibly on Fridays. Please contact me via email so that we can set up a time and a place that will work for both of us. If you have children that will be a part of the photo session; make sure that your child is fed and well rested before the session. Bring snacks and water just in case. Feel free to bring a change of clothes, make it simple, solid colors; we want the focus to be your little one.
Thanks for your consideration,
Sara Young

typical mom moment
So this is a typical moment for my mom and anything technologically advanced... if you can really call a basic digital camera that technologically advanced. :) we love her.
It's just occured to me, (as this video is uploading,) that this may not be as funny to "outsiders" as it is to people who know my mom. To those who don't know her on such a personal level, know that I laughed for quite some time after seeing this video. And that is why it is being posted today.

for the lack of anything better to report...
AUSTRALIAN BRICKLAYER' S ACCIDENT REPORT
Possibly the funniest story in a long while. This is a bricklayer's accident report, which was printed in the newsletter of the Australian equivalent of the Workers' Compensation board. This is a true story. Had this guy died, he'd have received a * Darwin Award.
Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to your request for additional information in Block 3 of the accident report form. I put 'poor planning' as the cause of my accident. You asked for a fuller explanation and I trust the following details will be sufficient.
I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six-story building. When I completed my work, I found that I had some bricks left over which, when weighed later were found to be slightly in excess of 500 lbs. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by using a pulley, which was attached to the side of the building on the sixth floor.
Securing the rope at ground I went up to the roof, swung the barrel out and loaded the bricks into it. Then I went down and untied the rope, holding it tightly to ensure a slow descent of the bricks. You will note in Block 11 of the accident report form that I weigh 135 lbs.
Due to my surprise at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I proceeded at a rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel, which was now proceeding downward at an equally impressive speed. This explained the fractured skull, minor abrasions and the broken collar bone, as listed in section 3 of the accident report form.
Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley. Fortunately by this time I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold tightly to the rope, in spite of beginning to experience pain.
At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Now devoid of the weight of the bricks, that barrel weighed approximately 50 lbs. I refer you again to my weight. As you can imagine, I began a rapid descent, down the side of the building.
In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles, broken tooth and several lacerations of my legs and lower body.
Here my luck began to change slightly. The encounter with the barrel seemed to slow me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks and fortunately only three vertebrae were cracked.
I am sorry to report, however, as I lay there on the pile of bricks, in pain, unable to move, I again lost my composure and presence of mind and let go of the rope and I lay there watching the empty barrel begin its journey back down onto me.
This explains the two broken legs.
I hope this answers your inquiry.

college is a pain in the neck... quite literally.
I hadn't realized how long it had been since I last posted until just now. I'm in the last week of school and can't see past tomorrow. My to-do list is almost as long as my stress level is high. In fact, I had to go to the doctor last week because of what we all think is "stress-related" pain in my neck, lower back and hip. They took 5 samples of my blood and are in the process of testing it to figure out what the heck is going on. The Dr. gave me a prescription (that I have yet had time to go fill) for some generic anti-inflammatory, hoping that it will help relieve some of the pain. I should probably try to fill that sometime tonight seeing as it's my night off. I'm just hoping that something IS wrong so it can be fixed otherwise, I'll be in a fairly frustrating situation.
To Do list for the next 5 (or less) days:
1) fill the dang prescription so I can physically move.
2) finish figuring out my MaryKay tax crap; give to dad tonight cuz the tax man is coming tomorrow.
3) read article and take the online quiz for my Student Development class for tomorrow.
4) Read Mormon 1-End of BoM and answer all study questions (approximately 75) for the quiz (starting tomorrow.)
5) Find apartments to look at tomorrow morning (so I have somewhere to live next fall).
6) Watch "Amadeus" and write up a paper for Music 101.
7) Write up the report for my Service Learning experience for FofDAP.
8) Write up my 5(+) pg. Major Self-Assessment for St. Dev.
9) Research and write 2 papers for biology.
10) Go to work for 4 hours (at least 3 more nights before the end of the season).
11) Register for Fall class schedule (Monday night, midnight)
12) Solidify a summer job.
Things that should be accomplished but probably won't be:
1) Go to all of my classes in the mean time.
2) Visit teach in a good mood with a smile on my face.
3) Write back to 6 missionaries, some of whom have been waiting since February (note my guilty conscience.)
4) Set up my finals study schedule
5) Buy the Conference edition of the Ensign at the Bookstore since I was told today that having one is essential to my eternal salvation.
6) Eat three meals a day
7) Sleep 8 hours a night
Aaaanyways... I'm gonna go. I don't think blogging was very therapeutic this time.
